In a cautionary tale for drivers across Ontario, the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) took decisive action during a routine traffic stop in Howick Township on November 21, 2025. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 PM on Amberley Road, resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Jason Richardson, who was found to be prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code.

As part of their commitment to community safety, OPP officers routinely monitor traffic and conduct stops to ensure that all drivers on the road are complying with the law. During this particular stop, officers quickly identified that Richardson was in violation of his driving prohibition, leading to his arrest and subsequent custody.

In addition to the primary charge of Operation while Prohibited, Richardson faces a total of six additional charges stemming from various provincial offences. These include violations of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA), and the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA). Such a multitude of charges highlights the importance of adhering to driving regulations and the potential consequences of neglecting them.
