Two Bracebridge Residents Charged with Impaired Driving After OPP Patrols
In a notable enforcement effort, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with impaired driving in Bracebridge, Ontario, as part of their ongoing commitment to road safety. The charges come just as the busy holiday season begins, a time when the risks associated with impaired driving tend to increase.
On November 29, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers from the Bracebridge OPP were conducting proactive patrols in the area when they observed a driver who appeared to be in distress near Taylor Road. Concerned for the driver’s wellbeing, the officers initiated an investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of 32-year-old Samantha Tessier from Chelmsford, Ontario. Tessier has been charged with Impaired Operation - Over 80, a serious offense that carries significant penalties. She is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 16, 2025.
Later that same day, at about 9:45 p.m., OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Muskoka Road 169 at Southwood Road. During this initiative, they initiated another impaired driving investigation, resulting in the arrest of 40-year-old Riley Stead from Gravenhurst, Ontario. Stead faces charges of Impaired Operation and Over 80, and he will appear in court on December 30, 2025.
These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, which continues to be a pressing issue across Canada. With the holiday season approaching, the OPP emphasize the importance of responsible driving and the need for everyone to make safe choices when it comes to consuming alcohol or other substances before getting behind the wheel.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspected impaired driving. If you see someone who appears to be driving under the influence, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. The OPP are committed to ensuring that our roads are safe for all Canadians, and they will make every effort to address any potential threats to public safety.
As we approach the festive season, let us all do our part in promoting safe driving practices. Enjoy the celebrations, but remember to plan ahead and choose a safe ride home. Whether it’s a designated driver, public transit, or a ride-sharing service, there are always options available to ensure everyone gets home safely.
