Perth County OPP Investigate Traffic Incident Involving Flying Coffee Mug

In a peculiar turn of events, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Perth County are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle of interest connected to a recent traffic incident that left many shaking their heads. On November 28, 2025, around 9:00 AM, a commercial motor vehicle was unexpectedly struck by a ceramic coffee mug that was thrown from another vehicle traveling eastbound on Perth Line 20 in the Municipality of West Perth.

The OPP described the vehicle of interest as a black Ford F-150 Crew Cab pickup truck, specifically from the model years 2009 to 2015. Witnesses noted that the truck had an offset front licence plate on the driver’s side, which was covered by a dark plate cover. This detail could prove crucial in helping authorities track down the vehicle and its driver, who may have been part of this unusual incident.

While the act of hurling a coffee mug may seem trivial to some, it highlights a growing concern regarding road safety and careless behaviour on our highways and byways. Throwing objects from vehicles can have serious consequences, not just for the targeted vehicle but also for other motorists and pedestrians. This incident serves as a reminder for all drivers to remain vigilant and respectful while on the road.

The Perth County OPP is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has video surveillance footage from around the time to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers, where individuals may even be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 for any information that leads to a successful resolution of the case.

As Canadians, we pride ourselves on our community spirit and willingness to help one another. If you live in the vicinity of Perth Line 20 or frequently travel that route, you may have seen something that could assist the investigation. Even the smallest detail can make a big difference, and the OPP are counting on the community’s support to help solve this case.

Traffic incidents involving reckless behaviour, while rare, serve as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe. Whether it’s reporting suspicious activity or simply being a more considerate driver, we can all contribute to a safer driving environment.

As the OPP continue their investigation, they remind the public to keep an eye out for the described vehicle and to report any information that could aid in identifying the driver. The safety of our roads is a collective responsibility, and with community cooperation, we can help ensure that incidents like this remain a rarity.

Stay tuned for updates on this case as the OPP work diligently to bring those responsible to justice. Our roads should be safe for all, and every report counts in making that a reality.
