Norfolk OPP and Emergency Services Launch Holiday Food Drive for Local Families

As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of giving is alive and well in Norfolk County, Ontario. The Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is stepping up to make a difference in the community by collaborating with local emergency services for a Holiday Food Drive.

Scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, this event will take place at the Real Canadian Superstore, located at 125 Queensway East in Simcoe, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This initiative aims to support local families who may be facing difficulties during the festive season, ensuring that no one goes hungry during this special time of year.

Shoppers visiting the Superstore will have the opportunity to purchase pre-made bags filled with non-perishable food items specifically designed for donation. However, contributions are not limited to these bags. The Norfolk OPP is encouraging community members to bring in any non-perishable food items or unwrapped toys, which will also be gratefully accepted. Every little bit helps, and this is a chance for everyone to give back to the community.

All items collected during the food drive will be donated to the Simcoe Caring Cupboard, a local organization dedicated to providing food and support to families in need throughout Norfolk County. This partnership is a testament to the collaborative efforts of local law enforcement, paramedics, and firefighters, all working together for a common cause: to brighten the holidays for those less fortunate.

Provincial Constable Andrew Gamble expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We’re proud to join forces with our emergency services partners to make a meaningful difference this holiday season. Every donation, big or small, will help brighten the holidays for local families in need.” Such sentiments reflect the strong community spirit that characterizes Norfolk County, especially during the holiday season.

In a time when many are feeling the pinch from rising costs and economic challenges, events like this food drive offer an opportunity for residents to come together and support one another. The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for struggling families, making initiatives like this crucial.

Norfolk County has a rich tradition of community involvement, and the Holiday Food Drive is just one of many examples of how residents and local organizations come together to support their neighbours. This event not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters a strong sense of community spirit and connection among residents.

As the countdown to December 6 begins, the Norfolk OPP encourages everyone in the area to participate in this heartwarming initiative. Whether it’s through purchasing a pre-made food bag at the Superstore or donating other items, every contribution will help ensure that families in need can enjoy a festive season filled with joy and warmth.

In a time of year where giving and kindness are at the forefront, let’s rally together to support our community. Mark your calendars for December 6 and join the Norfolk OPP and emergency services in making a difference this holiday season.
