Impaired Driver Strikes Two Parked Vehicles in Northbrook, Charged by OPP

In a concerning incident that highlights the ongoing issue of impaired driving, a young man from Arnprior has been charged following a multi-vehicle collision in Northbrook, Ontario, on November 29, 2025. The event unfolded on a Saturday afternoon when local residents alerted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) about a vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on Highway 41.

According to reports, shortly after the initial complaint at around 3:00 p.m., officers received another call indicating that the same vehicle had narrowly missed several pedestrians before colliding with two parked cars. The quick response from the Lennox and Addington County OPP helped ensure the safety of those in the vicinity.

Cohen Storie-Hein, a 21-year-old from Arnprior, now faces serious charges including operation while impaired - alcohol, failure or refusal to comply with demand, and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Such actions not only endanger the driver but also put innocent pedestrians and other road users at risk.

Following his arrest, Storie-Hein was released from custody with a scheduled court appearance set for December 16, 2025, in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee. In addition to the charges, he faces a 90-day suspension of his driver’s licence, and his vehicle has been impounded.

Impaired driving remains a critical concern across Canada, as it poses a significant threat to public safety. Statistics show that impaired drivers are a leading cause of road accidents, and the OPP has been actively working to curb this alarming trend through various enforcement initiatives and public awareness campaigns.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the severe consequences that can arise from impaired decisions behind the wheel. As Canadians, it is vital to remain vigilant and prioritize safety on our roads, particularly during the holiday season when the risk of impaired driving increases.

The community of Northbrook, like many others, hopes that incidents like this will prompt drivers to think twice before getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs. The OPP encourages everyone to report any suspicious or erratic driving behaviour to help keep our roads safe for all users.
