In a recent incident that highlights the ongoing challenge of vehicle theft in Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Greenstone Detachment successfully apprehended a 20-year-old driver after a dangerous chase involving a stolen vehicle. At approximately 7:30 PM, OPP officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence in Long Lake 58 First Nation. Swift action by the police led to the discovery of the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 11. However, what followed was a dangerous attempt to evade law enforcement.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and continued westward on the highway. In a bid to stop the vehicle, officers attempted to block its path, resulting in a police cruiser being struck and damaged in the process. Fortunately, the officers were undeterred and continued their pursuit.

The situation escalated as the vehicle was later spotted near Geraldton, prompting officers to deploy a spike belt. This decisive action successfully immobilized the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the lone occupant, identified as Jimmy Nadon, a resident of Longlac.

Nadon now faces a series of serious charges, including:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - over $5,000

• Theft of Motor Vehicle

• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

• Operation While Prohibited
