Greenstone OPP Arrest 20-Year-Old Driver Following Stolen Vehicle Chase
In a recent incident that highlights the ongoing challenge of vehicle theft in Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Greenstone Detachment successfully apprehended a 20-year-old driver after a dangerous chase involving a stolen vehicle. The events unfolded on the evening of November 28, 2025, and serve as a stark reminder of the risks associated with criminal behaviour on our roads.
At approximately 7:30 PM, OPP officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence in Long Lake 58 First Nation. Swift action by the police led to the discovery of the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 11. However, what followed was a dangerous attempt to evade law enforcement.
When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and continued westward on the highway. In a bid to stop the vehicle, officers attempted to block its path, resulting in a police cruiser being struck and damaged in the process. Fortunately, the officers were undeterred and continued their pursuit.
The situation escalated as the vehicle was later spotted near Geraldton, prompting officers to deploy a spike belt. This decisive action successfully immobilized the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the lone occupant, identified as Jimmy Nadon, a resident of Longlac.
Nadon now faces a series of serious charges, including:
-
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - over $5,000
-
Theft of Motor Vehicle
-
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
-
Operation While Prohibited
This incident raises important questions about vehicle theft and the risks associated with high-speed chases. In recent years, Ontario has seen an alarming rise in vehicle thefts, prompting law enforcement agencies to increase their efforts in combating this trend. The OPP reminds residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their communities.
As we reflect on this event, it is crucial to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our police forces, who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our roads and communities safe. The quick response of the Greenstone OPP not only led to the arrest of a suspect but also prevented potential harm to other road users.
As the investigation continues, the community is encouraged to stay informed about local crime trends and to continue reporting any suspicious activity. By working together, we can help keep our neighbourhoods safe and secure.
The OPP will continue to provide updates on this case as it progresses through the judicial system, ensuring that justice is served in a timely manner.
For now, residents of Greenstone can take comfort in the efforts of their local police force as they work tirelessly to maintain public safety.
