Sault Ste. Marie OPP Hosts 'Stuff a Cruiser' Event to Support Local Soup Kitchen

The spirit of giving is alive and well in Sault Ste. Marie as the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) invite the community to participate in their annual ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ event this Saturday, November 29, 2025. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., officers will be stationed outside Rome’s Your Independent Grocer, located at 44 Great Northern Road, collecting donations to support local families in need during the holiday season.

As the holiday season approaches, many families in the Algoma District face challenges in providing for their loved ones. The Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre plays a vital role in addressing this need, serving meals and offering support to those who might otherwise go without. This year, the OPP aims to rally community members to lend a hand by donating non-perishable food items, including canned goods, cereal, pasta, sauces, juice, children’s snacks, and condiments.

In addition to food items, the OPP are also accepting other essential donations such as toys, toiletries, and personal care items. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to teach their children the importance of giving back to the community, showing them how even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of others.

The ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ initiative is not just about filling a police vehicle with donations; it symbolizes the collective strength and compassion of the Sault Ste. Marie community. The OPP’s involvement reflects their commitment to community engagement and support, particularly for those who are less fortunate.

As you prepare for the holiday season, consider stopping by Rome’s Your Independent Grocer this Saturday to contribute to this worthy cause. Whether you have a few cans of food or a new toy to spare, every little bit helps. The OPP and the Soup Kitchen Community Centre are counting on the residents of Sault Ste. Marie to come together and show their support.

In a time when many families are facing economic challenges, initiatives like ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ remind us of the importance of community solidarity. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to the basic necessities, especially during the holidays. So, bundle up, head out, and help the OPP ‘Stuff a Cruiser’ for a great cause this Saturday!

Join us in making this holiday season brighter for those in need in our community. Your generosity could be the light that brightens someone else’s holiday.
