Oxford OPP Cram-A-Cruiser Food Drive Collects 1000 Pounds of Food for Local Families

Ingersoll, Ontario - This past Saturday, November 22, 2025, the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Auxiliary Unit engaged in a heartwarming display of community spirit during their Cram-A-Cruiser food drive. Hosted at a local grocery store, this initiative aimed to gather food donations to directly benefit residents in need, particularly supporting the Ingersoll Salvation Army and local families.

The event proved to be a tremendous success, with approximately 1000 pounds of food collected along with nearly 300 bags donated by generous community members. Auxiliary members worked diligently from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., encouraging shoppers to contribute to the cause.

Lovish Sharma, the Community Ministries Coordinator for the Salvation Army in Ingersoll, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “Thanks to the incredible support from OPP, our food bank is stocked with much-needed items through the Cram-a-Cruiser Food Drive that was organized last Saturday. We collected just under 300 bags of food and an additional $160.00 dollars. These donations will go directly to helping local families. With our Food Bank supporting more than 250 families in Ingersoll, this truly makes a difference in our community. Thanks to all who participated. We’re very grateful.”

Events like the Cram-A-Cruiser food drive highlight the importance of community collaboration, especially as many families face challenges during the colder months. Ingersoll, a town that prides itself on its close-knit community values, showcased how local organizations and residents can come together to support one another in times of need.

As the holiday season approaches, initiatives like this remind us of the significance of giving back. The Oxford OPP Auxiliary Unit’s commitment to community service not only helps those who are struggling but also fosters a sense of unity among residents. Such efforts can inspire others across Ontario to participate in similar drives, ensuring that no family has to go without the essentials.

Ingersoll’s Cram-A-Cruiser event serves as a shining example of how local law enforcement can play a vital role in supporting community welfare. By partnering with organizations like the Salvation Army, the OPP is not only enforcing the law but also building relationships and trust within the community they serve.

As we reflect on this event, it is clear that community involvement is crucial. The Oxford OPP’s actions remind us that helping our neighbours is a shared responsibility, and every little bit counts. As the colder months set in, let us continue to find ways to support one another, ensuring that everyone in our community can enjoy the warmth of the season.
