Caledon OPP Investigate Carjacking Incident Near Highway 50

In a concerning incident that has rattled the community of Caledon, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a carjacking that unfolded on the evening of November 11, 2025. The incident took place in the vicinity of Highway 50 and Ellwood Drive, raising alarms about safety in the area.

According to the OPP, just before 6:00 p.m., the victim was returning to their parked vehicle when they were approached by three suspects. Disturbingly, one of the suspects was reportedly brandishing a handgun, escalating the situation into a violent confrontation. The suspects forcibly removed the victim from their vehicle before fleeing the scene in the stolen car.

While the victim suffered minor injuries during this harrowing encounter, the swift response from the OPP led to the discovery of the stolen vehicle shortly after the incident. It was found abandoned near the initial location, offering investigators a crucial lead in their ongoing investigation.

The suspects, described as Black males in their mid-20s, were last seen driving a black Honda CR-V, which was noted for its reckless driving as it traveled southbound on Highway 50. The use of a firearm in this incident has understandably raised concerns among residents in Caledon, a community known for its generally low crime rates.

The Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit (MCU) is working diligently to gather more information. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward. Community involvement is vital in situations like this, as it often leads to greater public safety and quicker resolutions.

Incidents of carjacking are not just isolated to urban centres; they can occur in suburban areas like Caledon as well. This event serves as a stark reminder for residents to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings, especially in parking lots or areas where they may be vulnerable.

As the investigation unfolds, local law enforcement is encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity. With the holiday season approaching, the OPP is reminding everyone to take precautions when out shopping or running errands, which can help deter such criminal activities.

The community is on alert as the investigation continues, and residents are hopeful that the suspects will be apprehended soon. For now, the OPP’s ongoing efforts highlight the importance of community safety and collaboration in tackling crime effectively.
