Tragic Motorcycle Collision in Washago Claims Life of Local Man


In a tragic turn of events, a motorcycle collision in Washago, Ontario, has left a local man dead. The incident, which occurred on the evening of November 4, has prompted an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as the community grapples with the loss.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., OPP officers responded to reports of a motorcycle accident on Muskoka Street. Upon arrival, they found a 57-year-old male laying injured on the roadway. Emergency services, including Orillia Fire and Simcoe County Paramedic Services, were already on the scene, providing immediate life-saving measures.

According to initial investigations, the motorcycle was travelling southbound when it reportedly lost control after veering onto the road’s shoulder. The motorcycle slid before coming to a stop on the northbound shoulder. The driver, who has been identified as a resident of Washago, was rushed to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred via ORNGE Air Ambulance to a trauma centre in Toronto.

Sadly, despite medical efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries. This incident has stirred up a wave of emotions in the small community of Washago, where residents are mourning the loss of a familiar face.

The Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement unit (TIME) has taken over the investigation, which led to the temporary closure of Muskoka Street for several hours. The roadway has since been reopened, but the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash continues.
