Tillsonburg Driver Charged with Impaired Operation After Erratic Driving Incident

In a concerning reminder of the ongoing issue of impaired driving on Ontario’s roads, a 62-year-old Tillsonburg resident has been charged following a traffic stop that took place in the early hours of November 9, 2025. The Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on routine patrol in the area of Plank Line and Quarter Town Line when they observed a vehicle being driven erratically.

The driver, identified as Linh-Duy Nguyen, was stopped shortly after officers noted his concerning driving behaviour. Subsequent investigations led to charges of operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, as well as having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. Additionally, Nguyen faces a charge for dangerous operation of a vehicle.

As part of the consequences for these serious infractions, Nguyen has been subjected to a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for seven days, per Ontario’s strict road safety regulations. After being released from custody, he is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on December 18, 2025.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the continued efforts of the OPP to combat impaired driving. With the holiday season approaching, the risks associated with alcohol consumption and driving are amplified. The OPP urges all Ontarians to remain vigilant and report any suspected impaired driving by calling 911 in emergency situations or 1-888-310-1122 for non-emergency complaints.

As Canadians, prioritizing safety on our roads should be a collective responsibility. Whether you are enjoying a night out or just running errands, it is essential to plan ahead and ensure you’re not behind the wheel if you have been drinking. Let’s work together to keep our communities safe and reduce impaired driving incidents across Ontario.
