North York Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Collision in Adjala-Tosorontio

In a concerning incident highlighting the ongoing issue of impaired driving in Ontario, a 28-year-old man from North York has been charged following a single-vehicle collision in Adjala-Tosorontio Township. The event occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. on November 6, 2025, when the driver lost control of his vehicle, ending up in a ditch and damaging a residential mailbox on Concession Road 5.

Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene and quickly assessed the situation. Upon interacting with the driver, officers determined that his ability to operate a vehicle was significantly impaired by alcohol. This assessment led to a deeper investigation, revealing that the same vehicle had previously been involved in a fail-to-stop incident earlier that night with Caledon OPP.

Sergio Mejia Molina now faces a slew of serious charges, including:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • Flight from peace officer

  • Resist peace officer

  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

  • Drive motor vehicle - no licence

  • Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, not only to the driver but also to the community at large. Impaired driving remains a critical concern across Canada, contributing to numerous accidents and fatalities each year. The OPP continue to urge all drivers to make responsible choices, particularly as we approach the holiday season when celebrations may lead to increased alcohol consumption.

Molina is scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges, as the legal process now begins. As Canadians, it is imperative that we collectively prioritize road safety and work towards reducing impaired driving incidents, ensuring that our roads remain safe for everyone.

The OPP’s proactive approach in responding to this incident reflects their commitment to enforcing traffic laws and promoting public safety across the province. For those planning to partake in festivities, consider arranging alternative transportation or designating a sober driver to prevent such incidents from occurring in our communities.
