Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision Claims Life in St. Clair Township, Ontario

A tragic incident on the roads of southwestern Ontario has left a community in mourning. On November 6, 2025, a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 40 and Courtright Line in St. Clair Township resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man from London, Ontario.

The collision, which occurred at approximately 4:50 PM, involved a minivan and a passenger vehicle, each carrying a driver and one passenger. Emergency services, including the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Clair Township Fire Department, and Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), were swiftly on the scene to assist.

Despite their efforts, the London resident was pronounced deceased at the location of the accident. Three other individuals involved were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential perils on our roadways, especially as the colder months approach when driving conditions can become more treacherous.

Highway 40 was closed in both directions between Oil Springs Line and Moore Line for several hours to facilitate the investigation into the cause of the collision. The road has since reopened, but the community is left to grapple with the loss of life and the impact on those affected.

The Lambton OPP, with the help of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are appealing to the public for any witnesses or individuals who might have dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.

Motorists and pedestrians alike are reminded of the importance of road safety, particularly during the winter months when icy conditions can increase the likelihood of accidents. The OPP encourages all drivers to remain vigilant, adjust their driving behaviour according to weather conditions, and adhere to speed limits.

As the investigation continues, the community of St. Clair Township is reminded to support one another during this difficult time. Families and friends are encouraged to reach out and offer help to those affected by this tragic event.

In the wake of such incidents, it is essential for all Canadians to reflect on their own driving habits and the impact they can have on the lives of others. Every life lost on our roads is a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of safety and vigilance while driving.
