Englehart Driver Caught Going 192 km/h Charged with Impaired Driving

In a startling display of reckless driving, a resident of Englehart, Ontario, was apprehended by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while travelling at an alarming speed of 192 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, November 2, 2025, raising serious concerns about road safety in the region.

Officers from the Englehart Detachment were conducting routine patrols when they spotted the speeding vehicle on Second Street. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Alexander Ingleton, was pulled over shortly after 1:00 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odour of alcohol, prompting further investigation.

Ingleton was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and subsequently transported to the OPP detachment for additional testing. His vehicle was impounded, and he now faces significant legal repercussions. Specifically, he has been charged with “Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)” and “Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt.”

The consequences of this reckless behaviour are severe. Ingleton has been released from custody but is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on November 25, 2025. In addition to the charges, he received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), a regulation aimed at deterring impaired driving in Ontario.

The OPP has issued a stern reminder to all motorists that speeding and impaired driving are among the leading causes of collisions on Ontario roads. With the holiday season approaching, authorities are particularly concerned about increased risks associated with impaired driving as celebrations often involve alcohol consumption.

This incident serves as a wake-up call for drivers across the province. Road safety is a shared responsibility; every motorist must adhere to posted speed limits and never operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

As we enter the winter months, with snow and ice presenting additional hazards on the road, it becomes even more critical for drivers to remain vigilant and responsible. Speeding and impaired driving put not only the driver at risk but also passengers, other road users, and the community at large.

With the ongoing efforts of the OPP and local law enforcement agencies, residents are urged to stay informed about safe driving practices and to report any reckless behaviour they witness on the roads. Together, we can work towards making Ontario’s roads safer for everyone.
