On October 24, 2025, OPP officers responded to reports of an injured fox spotted near a residential area in Tottenham. Initial assessments suggested the animal had been struck by a vehicle, prompting a search of the area. Unfortunately, the officers were unable to locate the fox at that time. However, community members were attentive and continued to report sightings, leading Procyon Wildlife to successfully capture the fox on October 29, 2025, near St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery.

A veterinary examination brought shocking news: rather than having been hit by a vehicle, the fox had been shot multiple times with a pellet or BB gun. The severity of its injuries left the fox permanently paralyzed, and in a heart-wrenching decision, veterinarians determined that euthanasia was the only humane option to alleviate the animal’s suffering.
