Nottawasaga OPP Arrest Local Woman for Impaired Driving Following Traffic Complaint

In a significant reminder of the ongoing battle against impaired driving, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a local woman on October 31, 2025, after a concerned citizen reported erratic driving in Essa Township.

The incident unfolded shortly before 3:00 p.m. when OPP officers received a report about a vehicle swerving on Mill Street. Witnesses described the driver as appearing slumped over the steering wheel, prompting immediate police action. Upon locating the vehicle, officers approached the driver and quickly determined that she was under the influence of drugs.

Amanda Bolton, a 44-year-old resident of New Tecumseth, now faces serious charges including:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance in keeping our roads safe. The OPP encourages individuals to report any suspected impaired driving by calling 9-1-1, as every call can potentially prevent a tragic accident.

Impaired driving remains a critical issue across Ontario, impacting families and communities. The OPP is committed to ensuring that drivers are held accountable for their actions, and that our roads remain safe for all users.

Bolton’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 4, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford, where she will respond to the charges laid against her. As the legal proceedings unfold, the OPP continues to appeal to the public to remain proactive in reporting dangerous driving behaviour.

In a country where road safety is paramount, incidents like these serve as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of impaired driving. With the holiday season approaching, Ontario residents are encouraged to prioritize safety and consider alternative transportation options if they choose to drink.

Together, we can work towards safer roads and communities across Canada.
