The bag was cut open and resealed, raising immediate alarm. When officers from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP conducted a preliminary examination, they detected the presence of a substance suspected to be morphine.

At this stage, no additional reports of similar incidents have emerged, and the OPP is actively investigating the origin of the item. They are also assessing whether there are any further public safety concerns connected to this matter.
