Sudbury Man Charged with Impaired Driving After OPP Respond to Call in Markstay-Warren

In a recent incident highlighting ongoing concerns about impaired driving in Ontario, a 35-year-old man from Sudbury has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence in Markstay-Warren.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., OPP officers from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) detachment arrived on the scene to find Spencer Turvey in a running vehicle parked in a driveway. This situation not only raised immediate safety concerns but also underscored the importance of community vigilance.

The officers quickly assessed the situation, leading to Turvey’s arrest for impaired driving. He was subsequently taken to the OPP detachment for further testing, where it was determined that he was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Turvey was charged with two counts: operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

Following the investigation, Turvey was released but is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Sudbury. In addition to the charges, he received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP is using this incident as a reminder to the public about the dangers of impaired driving. With the holiday season approaching, it is crucial for all Canadians to plan their travel arrangements responsibly. The OPP encourages anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired to report it immediately by calling 9-1-1. This proactive approach not only helps keep our roads safe but can also save lives.
