On the night of October 25, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a suspicious individual damaging a vehicle on Wellington Street West. This was not an isolated incident; just hours later, at around 3:30 a.m. on October 26, officers were called to a business on Main Street South where a window had been smashed.

As a result of the investigation, the young offender has been charged with two counts of mischief under the Criminal Code for damaging both the vehicle and the business property. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be disclosed, but it is known that they have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
