Three Arrested for Cocaine Trafficking in Dryden, Ontario

In a proactive move against drug trafficking, the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three individuals following a targeted investigation that resulted in the execution of a search warrant on October 21, 2025. This operation highlights the OPP’s commitment to community safety and their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in Ontario.

Just after 10:00 p.m. on that Thursday, officers from the Dryden Detachment, assisted by the Treaty Three Police Service and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), raided a residence located on St. Charles Street in Dryden. The operation was the culmination of an extensive investigation that aimed to dismantle local drug trafficking activities.

During the search, officers seized a substantial quantity of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, as well as Canadian currency and various items indicative of drug trafficking operations. Such discoveries underscore the serious nature of the charges faced by the arrested individuals.

Among those charged are Gunnar Moskotawewenene, 28, and Lorna Kakagamic, 27, both residents of Dryden. They have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — specifically, cocaine. Their arrests bring local attention to the pressing issue of drug trafficking in smaller Ontario communities, which often bear the brunt of such illegal activities.

Also apprehended during the operation was Eric Morgan, a 25-year-old from Brampton, who faces charges under the Criminal Code. The involvement of an individual from a larger urban centre like Brampton illustrates that drug trafficking is not merely a local concern, but a broader issue that crosses regional boundaries.

The Dryden OPP, in collaboration with community partners, continues to emphasize the importance of public safety and the need for vigilance in reporting suspicious activities. The success of this operation serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are actively working to protect communities from the adverse effects of drugs and related crime.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are expected to conduct further inquiries to determine the extent of the drug trafficking network in the area. The OPP encourages residents to remain engaged and vigilant, as community cooperation is vital in the fight against drug-related offences.

This incident is part of a larger trend in Ontario where local law enforcement agencies are increasingly focused on tackling drug trafficking. The Dryden OPP’s proactive approach exemplifies how police departments across the province are working collaboratively to address the challenges posed by the illegal drug trade, ensuring that communities remain safe and secure.

Residents of Dryden and surrounding areas are reminded that they have a role to play in keeping their neighborhoods safe. Reporting suspicious activities to local authorities can help in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
