Caledon Driver Charged with Stunt Driving After Speeding at 129 km/h in Blue Mountain Community Safety Zone

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, law enforcement in Blue Mountain made it clear that reckless driving will not be tolerated. Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) pulled over a driver caught speeding at a staggering 129 km/h in a community safety zone on Grey Road 2 in Ravenna.

Community safety zones are typically established to protect pedestrians, cyclists, and other vulnerable road users. The posted speed limit in this area is 50 km/h, making the driver’s excessive speed all the more concerning. This incident occurred just after 11 AM, during a time when families and children are likely to be active in the neighbourhood.

The 34-year-old male driver from Caledon has been charged with two offences: speeding in a community safety zone, and stunt driving due to excessive speed, in violation of the Highway Traffic Act. Such actions not only endanger the driver but also put the lives of others at risk on the road.

As a consequence of his actions, the driver had his vehicle impounded for 14 days, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 24, 2025.

The OPP is committed to enhancing road safety and has been proactive in its enforcement efforts. They remind all motorists that aggressive driving behaviours, such as excessive speeding, can lead to serious accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. The message is clear: obeying speed limits is not just a matter of law but a vital aspect of community safety.

In a country like Canada, where vast landscapes and winter conditions can pose additional risks, it is crucial for drivers to remain vigilant and responsible. The OPP encourages anyone who witnesses dangerous driving behaviours to report them. Residents can do so by contacting the OPP or reaching out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.

As Canadians, we share the responsibility of keeping our roads safe for everyone. This recent incident in Blue Mountain serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to speed limits, especially in designated safety zones where our children and community members are at risk. Let us all drive with care and consideration for one another.
