Nottawasaga OPP Investigate Vehicle Break-Ins, Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Suspect

Residents of New Tecumseth are on high alert following a series of vehicle break-ins reported on October 6, 2025. Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are actively investigating these thefts and are calling on the community for assistance in identifying a suspect.

In the early hours of October 6, multiple residents along the 11th Line experienced the distressing violation of having their vehicles broken into overnight. The reported thefts included a variety of personal items, such as passports, citizenship cards, debit and credit cards, health cards, Social Insurance Numbers (SIN), driver’s licences, sunglasses, a purse, a Canada Post ID badge, and keys. The diverse range of stolen items highlights the serious implications of such crimes, as victims face not only the loss of personal property but also the potential for identity theft.

In a significant development, surveillance footage from a nearby gas station captured a male suspect entering the store around 7:28 AM that same morning. The footage shows the individual purchasing $248 worth of prepaid gift cards using one of the stolen debit cards. This action has raised concerns among local residents about the security of their personal information and financial assets.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium build and dark skin. He was seen wearing a red hat, sunglasses, a black T-shirt, black pants, and white Crocs at the time of the incident. Such details could be crucial for anyone who might have encountered him around the time of the break-ins.

Adding to the mystery, a white four-door BMW 328 with a stolen Ontario licence plate (CTJH 677) was observed fleeing the scene. Law enforcement is working diligently to locate the vehicle, which could provide further leads in the ongoing investigation.

The OPP has released surveillance images of the suspect in hopes that someone in the community may recognize him. The public’s vigilance is paramount in cases like these, where the community’s collaboration can make all the difference.

In light of these events, it is essential for residents to remain cautious and proactive about securing their vehicles and personal belongings. As the holiday season approaches, the temptation for thieves often increases, making it more important than ever to ensure that vehicles are locked and valuables are hidden from sight.

The Nottawasaga OPP encourages anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect to come forward. The safety and security of our communities depend on collective efforts to combat crime and support local law enforcement.

As the investigation continues, residents are reminded to stay informed and vigilant, reinforcing the importance of community engagement in keeping our neighborhoods safe.
