At approximately 1:14 PM, OPP officers were dispatched to a residence in Malahide Township after receiving a report of the assault. The investigation, swiftly conducted by the Elgin OPP, led to the man being charged with two serious offenses under the Criminal Code: Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference.

The accused was taken into custody and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on October 16, 2025, where he was held for bail. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, and in order to protect the identity of the victim, the name of the accused has not been released to the public.

Sexual assault remains a critical issue in communities across Ontario, and authorities are keen to emphasize that victims are not alone. The OPP encourages anyone who has experienced sexual assault or domestic violence to seek help. Local resources, such as Victim Services Elgin, are available to provide support to those in need.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the role of law enforcement in addressing such serious allegations. The OPP maintains an open line for reporting crimes, urging citizens to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or dial 911 in immediate crises.

As the legal process unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that brings justice and healing to the victim and accountability for the accused.
