Two Norfolk County Residents Charged in Separate Impaired Driving Incidents

In Norfolk County, Ontario, two individuals are facing serious charges following separate incidents of impaired driving. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is cracking down on impaired driving, as demonstrated by these recent arrests.

The first incident took place on October 13, 2025, when an OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Concession 6 Townsend, just outside of Waterford. At approximately 6:25 PM, the officer conducted a roadside sobriety test on the driver, subsequently taking him into custody without incident.

The accused, 49-year-old Robert Wilson, faces several charges, including:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

  • Operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg)

  • Driving without a valid licence

  • Failing to surrender an insurance card

  • Driving without a permit

  • Using a license plate not authorized for the vehicle

Wilson is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on November 18, 2025, to answer to these charges.

The second incident occurred just a day later, on October 14, when the OPP responded to a 9-1-1 report of a suspected impaired driver on Queensway West in Simcoe. Officers quickly located the vehicle and apprehended the driver, further emphasizing the commitment of local law enforcement to address impaired driving in the community.

The OPP’s focus on impaired driving is crucial, as such behaviour poses a significant risk to public safety. In Canada, impaired driving remains a leading cause of road fatalities, and law enforcement agencies continue to advocate for the responsible use of alcohol and drugs among drivers.

As these cases proceed through the legal system, residents of Norfolk County are reminded of the importance of safe driving practices. The OPP encourages anyone who suspects impaired driving to report it immediately, helping to make the roadways safer for everyone.
