Massive Cannabis Grow Operation Busted in Tiny Township, Seizing $9.5 Million in Plants and Dried Cannabis

On October 15, 2025, a major cannabis grow operation was dismantled in Tiny Township, Ontario, by the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The operation, located on Chemin du Loup, was discovered to be exceeding the legal production limits set for licensed cannabis facilities.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at the rural property, revealing a staggering 8,100 live cannabis plants and 762 pounds of dried cannabis. The total estimated value of the seized items reached an impressive $9.5 million, making this one of the largest cannabis busts in the region.

“Illegal grow operations pose a significant risk to public safety and undermine the integrity of the legal cannabis market,” said a representative from the OPP. “Our commitment to addressing these illegal activities remains strong.”

As officers arrived at the scene, they arrested six individuals found inside the property. These individuals were later released unconditionally, as the investigation into the operation continues. Authorities have indicated that more suspects may be identified and charged under the Cannabis Act as part of the ongoing investigation.

This operation highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in regulating the cannabis industry following its legalization in Canada. While legal cannabis production is permitted, it is crucial for operators to remain within the limits established by the law. The OPP aims to ensure that criminal activities do not overshadow the benefits of legal cannabis.

The involvement of multiple units, including assistance from the Huronia West/Collingwood CSCU and the Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, underscores the seriousness of this investigation. The collaborative effort demonstrates a strong commitment from law enforcement to uphold the law and protect communities from illegal drug activities.

As investigations proceed, the OPP urges anyone with information about illegal cannabis operations to come forward. The enforcement of the Cannabis Act is essential for maintaining a safe and regulated marketplace, and the public’s assistance is vital in combating illegal activities.

The dismantling of this large-scale grow operation serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts required to ensure compliance within the cannabis industry, and the OPP’s determination to maintain public safety in Ontario.
