Guelph-Eramosa Township Collision Results in Charges for Local Driver
A morning collision involving a box truck and an SUV on Wellington Road 124 in Guelph-Eramosa Township has resulted in a careless driving charge for a Guelph resident. The incident occurred on October 16, 2025, around 7:45 a.m. and has raised concerns about traffic safety in the area.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the collision took place just north of Whitelaw Road. Fortunately, both drivers emerged unscathed, although they were assessed medically by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a precautionary measure.
The aftermath of the collision saw Wellington Road 124 temporarily closed between Whitelaw Road and Fife Road. This was necessary due to heavy debris and liquids leaking from both vehicles, which posed potential hazards for other motorists. Fortunately, the road has since been reopened, allowing traffic to resume.
As part of the investigation, a 33-year-old male driver from Guelph has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving. This charge highlights the importance of road safety and the consequences of negligent behaviour behind the wheel.
The OPP is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision or possesses dashcam footage to come forward. Such information could be vital in further understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Traffic incidents like this serve as a reminder for all drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to road safety regulations. As the number of vehicles on Ontario’s roads continues to grow, maintaining awareness and caution is essential to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
With no injuries reported, this incident, while serious, ended without physical harm. However, it reiterates the need for responsible driving and the potential repercussions of carelessness on the road.
