Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision Near Simcoe Claims Life of 79-Year-Old Driver
In a tragic incident that has shaken the Norfolk County community, a 79-year-old man lost his life in a three-vehicle collision on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, which occurred at approximately 3:11 PM at the intersection of Concession 13 Townsend and Blueline Road, just outside of Simcoe.
The collision involved a cement truck, a sedan, and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Emergency services, including Norfolk County Paramedic Services and the Norfolk County Fire Department, responded promptly to the scene. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The drivers of both the cement truck and the sedan, along with a passenger in the sedan, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, the extent of which remains undetermined. The investigation is ongoing, and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting in gathering further details to understand the factors that led to this tragic event.
In the wake of the collision, Concession 13 Townsend—between Culver Road and Cockshutt Road—and Blueline Road—between Concession 12 Townsend and Concession 14 Townsend—were closed for several hours to allow for the investigation and cleanup. These roads have since reopened.
As this community mourns the loss of life, the OPP urges drivers to exercise caution on the roads, especially in intersections where visibility may be compromised.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds, and residents are reminded to stay alert and drive safely to prevent such tragedies in the future.
