Two-Vehicle Collision on Wellington Road 21 Leads to Careless Driving Charge in Centre Wellington


A two-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 21 yesterday has prompted an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and resulted in a charge of careless driving against a 41-year-old man from Acton. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on October 15, 2025, at the intersection of Wellington Road 21 and Eighth Line, located south of Inverhaugh in Centre Wellington Township.

According to the OPP, the collision involved a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a tractor trailer. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following the accident. The driver of the SUV sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the driver of the tractor trailer did not report any injuries after being assessed on site.

Following the collision, the OPP conducted an investigation that led to the charge against the Acton resident for careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph at a later date.

The intersection of Wellington Road 21 and Eighth Line was temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation and ensure safety but has since been reopened to traffic.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information to come forward. The OPP continues to stress the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to remain vigilant and cautious while on the road.
