Renfrew Man Charged with Multiple Bail Violations Following Police Response

On October 10, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Renfrew responded to a call regarding a bail violation. The incident led to the arrest of Gregory Schoenherr, a 64-year-old resident of Renfrew, who now faces three counts of breach of recognizance.

The police received the call at approximately 10:25 a.m. and promptly initiated an investigation. Following their inquiries, Schoenherr was charged for violating the terms set forth in his recognizance. This legal term typically refers to an agreement by an accused person to comply with certain conditions while awaiting trial or other proceedings.

After being taken into custody, Schoenherr was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 5, 2025. The nature of the violations has not been disclosed, but breaches of recognizance can often involve failing to adhere to conditions such as staying away from certain locations or individuals, maintaining a curfew, or avoiding further criminal activity.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to uphold the law and ensure community safety. The OPP encourages residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could lead to further criminal behaviour.

For anyone with additional information that could assist in ongoing investigations, Crime Stoppers Pembroke/Renfrew County is urging the public to come forward. The community’s involvement can play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security in the region.

As the case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to legal obligations while navigating the justice system. Community members will be keenly watching as Schoenherr prepares for his upcoming court date in November.
