Acton Man Charged with Careless Driving in Wellington Road 21 Collision

A significant traffic incident occurred on the morning of October 15, 2025, on Wellington Road 21 in Centre Wellington Township, resulting in one charge and minor injuries.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Wellington Detachment were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a tractor trailer at the intersection of Wellington Road 21 and Eighth Line, located south of Inverhaugh. Emergency services arrived swiftly to assess the situation and provide necessary medical assistance.

The driver of the SUV sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Thankfully, the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured and was assessed on the scene.

Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, a 41-year-old man from Acton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving. This charge suggests that the driver may have exhibited a lack of caution or consideration for others on the road, leading to the unfortunate incident.

The accused is set to appear in the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph at a later date, where legal proceedings will commence.

As a result of the collision and subsequent investigation, Wellington Road 21 has been closed to traffic from Eighth Line westward, with significant delays expected as cleanup operations are underway. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while authorities work to clear the scene.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, particularly in areas where heavy vehicles are present. The OPP continues to emphasize the need for vigilance on the roads to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
