A 20-year-old man from Ilderton is facing multiple charges, including impaired driving, following a single-vehicle collision that occurred on October 12, 2025. The incident took place around 11:18 a.m. on Medway Road near Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, prompting a swift response from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

According to the OPP’s investigation, the driver lost control of his vehicle, veering off the road and ending up in a ditch where he collided with a hydro pole. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported as a result of the crash.

The driver, identified as Nicholas Dykeman, has been charged under the Criminal Code and various traffic regulations. The specific charges include operating a vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit, failing to properly wear a seatbelt, and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero. Additionally, he faces a charge for having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

Dykeman has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 9, 2025, to respond to the charges. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding impaired driving and the importance of road safety in Ontario.

The OPP continues to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence, reminding residents that such reckless behaviour can lead to severe consequences not only for the driver but for everyone on the road. As this case progresses through the legal system, it serves as a crucial reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety and make responsible choices behind the wheel.
