London Driver Arrested for Impaired Driving Following Traffic Stop in Middlesex Centre

In the early hours of October 10, 2025, a quick-thinking officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Middlesex County initiated a traffic stop that would lead to serious charges for a local driver. At approximately 3:03 a.m., the officer noticed a suspicious vehicle on Sharon Drive near Woodhull Road in Middlesex Centre and decided to investigate.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer detected signs of impairment. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Tyona DO from London, was subsequently arrested and taken to the Middlesex OPP Detachment for further testing.

Tyona DO is now facing several charges under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Liquor Licence Control Act. Specifically, he has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 0.08

  • As a novice driver, operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration above zero

  • Failing to surrender his driver’s licence

  • Driving with an open container of liquor in the vehicle

After being processed, DO was released from police custody but is required to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to address these charges on November 10, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP has issued a reminder to the public about the importance of road safety, encouraging anyone who observes suspicious behaviour or suspects an impaired driver to report it. This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to keep Ontario roads safe for all drivers and pedestrians.

As the debate around impaired driving continues in Ontario, this case serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of driving under the influence. With the holiday season approaching, vigilance on our roads will be critical to prevent similar incidents.
