Toronto Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Vehicle Found in Erin Ditch
A 53-year-old man from Toronto is facing serious charges after his vehicle was discovered in a ditch in Erin, Ontario. The incident occurred on October 14, 2025, around 8:30 PM when the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a vehicle in distress.
Upon arriving at the scene on Third Line, officers found the driver, identified as Gabriel Teran, and suspected he was impaired. Following an investigation, Teran was charged under the Criminal Code with two offences: operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand made by police.
The charges come as part of ongoing efforts by the OPP to curb impaired driving, a significant concern on Ontario’s roads. With the festive season approaching, authorities are keen to remind the public of the dangers associated with driving under the influence.
After being charged, Teran was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on October 31, 2025.
Impaired driving remains a pressing issue, and the OPP urges anyone who suspects a driver is operating a vehicle while impaired to report it immediately. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of impaired driving, not just for the driver, but for all road users.
As the community continues to grapple with the impacts of impaired driving, the OPP remains committed to ensuring public safety through rigorous enforcement and education.
