Fatal Collision in Haldimand County Claims Life of 95-Year-Old Resident
On the morning of October 14, 2025, a devastating two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 3 and Haldimand Road 20 near Hagersville claimed the life of a 95-year-old passenger. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the incident around 10:10 a.m. alongside Haldimand County Paramedic Services and Fire Services.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a minivan and a transport truck that had collided under unclear circumstances. The passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was rushed to the hospital with injuries that have yet to be detailed. Fortunately, the driver of the transport truck emerged from the crash uninjured.
The deceased has been identified as a resident from Lowbanks, whose family is undoubtedly reeling from the loss. Investigators from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team were called to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation, which aims to determine the cause of the collision.
The collision led to temporary road closures around the intersection as authorities worked to gather evidence and clear the area. However, the roads have since reopened, allowing traffic to resume.
This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers present on Ontario’s roads. As investigations continue, the community of Haldimand County is left mourning a life lost and hoping for the swift recovery of the injured driver.
