Trenton Woman Charged with Impaired Driving After Traffic Complaint in Quinte West
In the early hours of October 12, 2025, a traffic complaint in Quinte West prompted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to investigate a suspected impaired driver. The situation escalated when officers initiated a stop on the vehicle, leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old woman from Trenton, Samantha Biggs.
Around 1:00 a.m., police received reports suggesting that a motorist was driving erratically. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and conducted an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) test on Biggs. The results indicated that she was indeed impaired by alcohol and drugs, resulting in her arrest.
Following her arrest, Biggs was taken to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing, where the gravity of the situation became clearer. She was charged with two serious offences: operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg.
In accordance with Ontario’s impaired driving laws, Biggs’ vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days, and her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days. After being processed, she was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
The OPP is reminding the public of the dangers associated with impaired driving. They encourage citizens to report any suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1. Quick action can potentially save lives and prevent tragic accidents on Ontario roads.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of impaired driving, a concern that law enforcement continues to tackle vigorously in the province. With the holiday season approaching, the OPP’s message is clear: don’t drink and drive. The consequences can be serious, both legally and in terms of public safety.
