Two Suspects Arrested Following Homicide in Ginoogaming First Nation


In a significant development in Ginoogaming First Nation, two males have been arrested following a two-day manhunt related to a homicide investigation. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed the arrests on October 9, 2025, after a series of violent incidents that shook the community.

The situation unfolded early on October 8 when police received reports of shots fired around 2:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Echum Drive. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered one individual deceased and another suffering from injuries. The OPP’s North West Region Crime Unit, collaborating with the Anishinabek Police Service, quickly launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

In light of the severity of the situation, a shelter-in-place advisory was issued for residents of the First Nation, urging them to remain indoors as the search for the suspects intensified. Fortunately, this advisory has since been lifted following the arrests, allowing the community to return to a sense of normalcy.
