Young Driver Charged with Multiple Offences After Highway 6 Traffic Stop in Haldimand County

In the early hours of October 8, 2025, a routine traffic stop on Highway 6 in Haldimand County escalated into a serious incident for a young driver. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand detachment stopped a vehicle at approximately 1:35 a.m. after it drew attention for suspicious driving behaviour.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Mohamadlouay Brijaoui from Hannon, now faces several serious charges that highlight the risks associated with reckless driving and possession of illegal weapons.

Upon conducting the traffic stop, officers discovered that Brijaoui was not only speeding excessively—more than 50 km/h over the posted limit—but also performing stunts on the highway, which can endanger other road users. Further investigation revealed he was in possession of a weapon deemed dangerous, a significant concern for public safety.

Brijaoui has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt - Excessive Speed

  • Speeding 50+ km/h Over Posted Limit

  • Disobey Stop Sign - Fail to Stop (two counts)

  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

Such incidents raise alarms about the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws, particularly regarding stunt driving and weapon possession, which can have deadly consequences on our roads. The OPP continues to urge the public to adhere to traffic regulations and report any suspicious activities they may witness.

Brijaoui is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on November 4, 2025. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the potential legal repercussions of reckless behaviour behind the wheel.

As the investigation continues, local residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure community safety.
