Stoney Creek Driver Charged with Stunt Driving After Going Double the Speed Limit in Puslinch Township

In a startling display of reckless driving, a 25-year-old man from Stoney Creek is facing serious charges after being caught speeding excessively in Puslinch Township on October 7, 2025. The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the driver was observed travelling at a rate exceeding 50 km/h over the posted speed limit during a proactive traffic enforcement initiative.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when members of the OPP Traffic Management Unit initiated a traffic stop on Wellington Road 36. It was here that they discovered the driver was not only speeding but engaged in stunt driving, prompting officers to take immediate action.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, the driver is now charged with two significant offenses: speeding 50 km/h or more over the posted limit and performing a stunt by driving at excessive speed. These charges carry serious penalties, which include a mandatory 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day suspension of the driver’s licence.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Guelph provincial offences court at a later date, where he will face the consequences of his actions. The OPP’s emphasis on traffic enforcement highlights a growing concern regarding road safety, especially as reckless driving continues to pose a threat to all road users.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to speed limits and exercising caution while driving. The OPP encourages anyone witnessing potentially impaired or dangerous driving to report it immediately, fostering a safer environment for all motorists.

As traffic enforcement initiatives continue, the OPP remain vigilant in their efforts to curb dangerous driving behaviour. Public safety remains a priority, and incidents like this underline the need for drivers to be responsible and mindful of their speed on the roads.
