North York Man Charged After Traffic Stop in Centre Wellington Township

In a recent traffic enforcement initiative, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Wellington County apprehended a North York resident on several charges following a routine traffic stop.

On October 7, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers from the OPP Traffic Management Unit conducted a traffic stop on Wellington Road 29 in Centre Wellington Township. The proactive measure aimed to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic laws.

The investigation revealed that the 47-year-old driver was operating a vehicle while under suspension due to family support obligations. In addition to this serious infraction, he was also charged with failing to surrender a permit for the motor vehicle and driving without a currently validated permit.

These charges highlight the ongoing efforts by the OPP to maintain road safety and enforce the rules of the road. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph at a later date to respond to the charges.

Residents are reminded of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the potential consequences of violations. If anyone suspects impaired driving or encounters urgent traffic issues, they are encouraged to report it immediately.

As the OPP continues its commitment to road safety, this incident serves as a reminder that enforcement measures are in place to ensure the safety of all drivers on Ontario’s roads.
