Shelburne Man Charged with Impaired Driving After Highway 10 Collision in Mono
In a recent incident on Highway 10 in Mono, a Shelburne resident has been charged with multiple impaired driving-related offences following a late-night collision. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Dufferin Detachment responded to the scene shortly after 10:00 p.m. on October 3, 2025.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the individuals involved in the collision and noticed signs of impairment. This prompted the initiation of an impaired driving investigation. The investigation led to the arrest of 27-year-old Sweetan Bath from Shelburne.
Bath now faces serious charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, failure to comply with a demand, and possession of more than one driver’s licence. Such charges highlight the increasing concerns surrounding road safety and impaired driving in Ontario.
Following the incident, Bath’s driver’s licences have been suspended, and his vehicle has been impounded. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, where he will face the legal consequences of his actions.
Impaired driving remains a significant issue on Canadian roads, contributing to numerous accidents and fatalities each year. Authorities continue to stress the importance of responsible driving, particularly as holiday seasons approach when the risk of impaired driving incidents traditionally increases.
As the legal process unfolds, this case serves as a reminder for all drivers to remain vigilant and make safe choices behind the wheel. The OPP encourages the public to report any suspicious driving behaviour to help ensure the safety of all road users.
