In a recent traffic enforcement operation, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a 40-year-old London resident following a routine stop of a commercial motor vehicle in Guelph-Eramosa Township on October 3, 2025.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Wellington County Road 39 as part of an ongoing effort by the OPP Traffic Management Unit to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. During the traffic stop, officers identified several violations related to the operation of the vehicle.

The driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with several serious infractions, including:

  • Driving a commercial motor vehicle with an improper licence

  • Failing to surrender the required inspection schedule

  • Failing to provide a completed daily inspection report

  • Operating a vehicle with an insecure load

  • Driving without a valid Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) certificate

These charges underscore the importance of adhering to safety regulations, especially for commercial vehicles that can pose significant risks if not properly maintained and operated.

In addition to the formal charges, the driver received warnings for violations related to the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, which included failing to display an inspection sticker or proof of insurance.

The OPP’s proactive approach aims to enhance road safety and prevent incidents that could arise from improper vehicle operation. This incident serves as a reminder of the necessity for all drivers, particularly those operating commercial vehicles, to comply with legal requirements and ensure their vehicles are safe for the road.

As the investigation continues, the OPP encourages all drivers to prioritize safety and compliance, reinforcing the message that road regulations are in place to protect everyone on the highways.
