Emergency Alert Issued for Armed Individual in Temagami North and Latchford


Residents of Temagami North and Latchford, Ontario, are currently under an emergency alert as the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their search for an armed individual described as dangerous. The alert, issued on October 4, 2025, advises the public to shelter in place as law enforcement agencies intensify their efforts to locate the suspect.

The suspect is a male of medium build, approximately 180 cm (5’11”), last seen wearing a beige or grey Tilley-style hat and dark brown clothing. He is also reported to be carrying a military-style backpack. The OPP have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the threat posed by the individual, but they have made it clear that he is considered armed and dangerous.

To ensure public safety, Highway 11 was initially closed between Highway 64 and Marcotte Avenue but has since reopened with increased police presence. However, Roosevelt Road remains fully closed as the search continues. Residents are urged to avoid these areas until further notice. Those outdoors are advised to seek shelter in secure locations and lock all doors and windows.

The OPP has emphasized that anyone who encounters the suspect should not engage him but should contact law enforcement immediately. The safety of the community is the top priority, and authorities are taking all necessary measures to resolve the situation.
