Fatal Collision on Highway 6 Near Wiarton Claims Elderly Driver's Life
A tragic motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, north of Wiarton, has resulted in the death of a 90-year-old driver from Lions Head. The incident occurred on October 2, 2025, at approximately 11:31 a.m. when Grey-Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a water truck at the intersection of Highway 6 and Mar Sideroad.
Emergency services, including Bruce County Paramedic Services and North & South Bruce Peninsula Fire Departments, quickly arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident.
The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team, alongside the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, has been called in to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this tragic loss of life.
In response to the collision, Highway 6 was temporarily closed in both directions between Bruce Road 9 and Howdenvale Road, as well as at several other nearby intersections. This closure was necessary to facilitate the investigation and ensure the safety of all personnel involved. Thankfully, all affected roadways have since reopened following the completion of on-scene investigations and cleanup efforts.
