Trenton Motorist Charged with Impaired Driving After Collision in Quinte West

In a concerning incident that underscores the ongoing struggle against impaired driving, a 47-year-old man from Trenton has been charged following a collision in Quinte West on October 1, 2025. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Quinte West Detachment responded to the accident around 9:20 AM and suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs.

After the initial investigation, the driver, identified as Lindsay McCormick, was arrested and taken to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing. Subsequent tests confirmed the OPP’s suspicions, leading to several serious charges against McCormick.

He now faces three charges: operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with a demand from law enforcement, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. The repercussions of these actions are significant; McCormick’s vehicle has been impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.

The OPP has a strong stance against impaired driving, and this incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with mixing substances and driving. The police encourage the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 9-1-1, a move that could potentially save lives.

McCormick has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a later date. As the OPP continues to crack down on impaired driving, this case highlights the importance of responsible driving and the legal consequences that come with negligent behaviour behind the wheel.

As Canadians, it is crucial to remain vigilant about road safety, especially as we approach the holiday season when impaired driving incidents typically increase. Authorities remind everyone that the cost of impaired driving is not just legal; it can be a matter of life and death.
