Midland Man Charged After Motorcycle Upset and Impaired Driving Investigation

In a concerning incident on the night of September 29, 2025, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment responded to a motorcycle upset at Little Lake Park in Midland. The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. when officers, on foot patrol, noticed a motorcycle lying in the sand.

Upon locating the driver, identified as 48-year-old Timothy Dempsey, officers initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the upset. During their inquiry, they suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol, leading to a drinking and driving investigation.

The results of this investigation were serious. Dempsey was issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension due to his blood-alcohol concentration level. Furthermore, he faces criminal charges, including Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code and Obstruct Peace Officer, among others. Additional provincial offences include Careless Driving, Driving While Under Suspension, and Engaging in Prohibited Activity on Premises.

Dempsey was subsequently released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 23, 2025. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, a significant penalty intended to discourage impaired driving behaviours.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with impaired driving and the importance of responsible behaviour, particularly in recreational areas like Little Lake Park, which is popular among residents and visitors alike. The OPP continue to emphasize their commitment to road safety and the enforcement of laws aimed at keeping the community safe.

As the community awaits the court proceedings, it is crucial for individuals to take heed of these events and ensure they make safe choices while on the road.
