Fatal Collision on Highway 6 Near Wiarton Claims Life of 90-Year-Old Driver


A fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 at Mar Sideroad, north of Wiarton, has left a 90-year-old man from Lions Head deceased. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that the incident occurred on October 2, 2025, at approximately 11:31 a.m.

Emergency services, including Bruce County Paramedic Services and the North & South Bruce Peninsula Fire Departments, responded promptly to the scene of the accident involving a passenger vehicle and a water truck. Despite the efforts of first responders, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the wake of the collision, the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are actively involved in the investigation, aiming to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event.

As a result of the collision, Highway 6 has been closed between Bruce Road 9 and Howdenvale Road. Additional road closures have been implemented at Bruce Road 9 and Mar Sideroad, as well as at Highway 6 and Greig Settlement Road, including Red Bay Road and Huron Road. Motorists are advised to use Bruce Road 9 as an alternate route to navigate around the area.

The OPP is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the potential consequences of collisions on busy highways.
