OPP Recover Stolen Tractor-Trailer, Two Charged in Northumberland

In a significant police operation, the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen tractor-trailer and charged two individuals following a pursuit on September 29, 2025.

The incident began around 6:20 a.m. when police received reports of a tractor-trailer believed to have been stolen from Cornwall. The vehicle was spotted traveling westbound on Highway 401, prompting an immediate response from the OPP.

As the situation unfolded, two suspects fled the scene on foot. Quick action by the OPP led to both individuals being apprehended shortly thereafter. The OPP Canine Unit was also dispatched to assist with the investigation, searching the vehicle for any additional evidence.

The primary suspect, 25-year-old Gurmanveer Singh from Caledon, faces multiple charges including:

  • Theft of motor vehicle

  • Theft over $5,000

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)

  • Mischief under $5,000

  • Possession of break-in instruments

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

  • Flight from a peace officer

  • Resist peace officer

The second suspect, 21-year-old Anshdeep Kang, also from Caledon, has been charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle

  • Possession of break-in instruments

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of vehicle theft in Ontario, as authorities work diligently to crack down on such criminal activities. The OPP’s swift response and the successful recovery of the stolen vehicle demonstrate their commitment to public safety and the rule of law.

As investigations continue, both Singh and Kang will face legal proceedings for their alleged crimes, which serve as a reminder of the consequences that accompany such unlawful actions.
