Mississippi Mills Woman Charged with Impaired Driving in Carleton Place Incident

In a recent incident that underscores ongoing concerns about road safety, a Mississippi Mills resident has been charged with impaired driving. On October 1, 2025, just after 4:00 PM, officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver in Carleton Place.

Upon arrival, the officers located the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Sherry White, was arrested at the scene. Following standard procedure, she was taken to the OPP Detachment in Carleton Place for breath testing.

As a result of the investigation, White has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving, particularly as we head into the fall season when road conditions can become more treacherous.

The OPP continues to urge the public to report any suspected impaired drivers, as such vigilance can save lives. Impaired driving remains a significant issue across Ontario, and law enforcement agencies are committed to keeping our roads safe for all users.

As the legal process unfolds, it will be important for the community to stay informed about developments in the case. White is expected to appear in court to face the charges, and her case will be closely monitored given the serious implications of impaired driving.

This incident not only highlights the risks associated with impaired driving but also the role that community members play in ensuring road safety. The OPP encourages everyone to remain proactive in reporting suspicious driving behaviours and to always choose a safe mode of transportation if alcohol or drugs are involved.
