Whitestone Man Charged with Drug Offences After Public Alert in Parry Sound
In a significant enforcement action, a 33-year-old man from Whitestone, Ontario, has been charged with multiple drug offences following a call from the public that alerted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in West Parry Sound.
On the evening of September 28, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., OPP officers responded to reports of a male who appeared to be unconscious in the middle of Bowes Street in Parry Sound. Upon arrival, the officers found the individual had moved to a nearby business. However, further investigation quickly revealed that the man, later identified as Brandon Deacon, was in possession of a quantity of drugs suspected to be fentanyl and hydromorphone.
The arrest did not stop there; Deacon was also found to be in breach of existing court orders, raising concerns about his compliance with legal stipulations. As a result, he has been charged with several offences:
-
Possession of a schedule 2 substance for the purpose of trafficking
-
Possession of a schedule 1 substance - Opioid
-
Fail to comply with probation order
-
Fail to comply with undertaking
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges that law enforcement faces concerning drug-related activities, particularly in rural areas where community vigilance plays a pivotal role. The OPP encourages the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, as demonstrated in this case, where a timely call led to swift action by the police.
Brandon Deacon is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, where he will face the charges. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing drug crisis impacting communities across Canada, and the importance of community involvement in addressing these pressing issues.
As authorities continue to tackle drug trafficking and possession, the cooperation between the public and law enforcement remains a critical element in maintaining community safety.
