Three Impaired Drivers Arrested in Haldimand County Over Weekend
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand Detachment reported a busy weekend, arresting three individuals for impaired driving. The arrests took place during routine patrols aimed at maintaining road safety in the region.
The first incident occurred on September 27, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m. Officers observed a vehicle on Highway 6 near Hagersville that raised their suspicions. When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver failed to comply and continued on. Eventually, the vehicle was brought to a halt, and the driver was taken into custody.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Thomas Maracle from Hagersville, faces multiple charges, including:

Maracle is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on October 14, 2025.
Later that same day, at approximately 11:25 p.m., OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Mackenzie Road near Caledonia for a traffic violation. The driver was arrested after showing signs of impairment.
This driver, 40-year-old Darryl Koning from Caledonia, has been charged with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus). His court appearance is also forthcoming.
